A Wonderful Message by George Carlin

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much , and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Some Worst City Names in the World

Some list of REAL (and real funny) city names. Would you ever live in these place?

1. Cockburn, Western Australia
Although this name is often pronounced "Coburn" by those who stand to lose from its awfulness, who actually reads that when they see this word?

2.Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu, New Zealand
Locals call this hill in Hawke's Bay "Taumata"

3.Titty Hill, Sussex, England

4.Thong, Kent, England

5. Bald Knob, Arkansas, United States

6. Cockup, Cumbria, England
Cumbria is a county in the very north-west of England. What the backwoods of Alabama are to America is what Cumbria is to Britain. They talk funny up there. Thus, it isn't thoroughly surprising that they have a town called Cockup. What do you call someone from this place? A Cockupper? Cockupeleite? Cockuppian? Cockupican?

7.Whiskey Dick Mountain, Washington State, United States

8.Hookersville, West Virginia
Undoubtedly named before "hooker" meant "prostitute who picks men up on street corners," Hookersville combines two crimes of place-naming. One, a dirty sounding adjective "Pleasant"? "Sunny"? "Happy" And two, they added "ville" to the end of the town's name.

9.Hell, Michigan, United States

10.Horneytown, North Carolina, United States
Its proximity to Hookersville, West Virginia is no coincidence. Like Hookersville, the naming of Horneytown took place before "horney" meant "aching for a hot piece of ass" with an extra "e".

11.Disappointment, Kentucky, United States

12.Fucking, Austria

Self Control....

Self-control is something for which we are responsible. Peter says: "... make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love."

Areas Needing Self Control

Heart: First and foremost that need to have self-control is our heart. It is considered as an essential person and not just a blood-pumping organ. It is the real source of our emotions, our deepest desires, loves and longings. Our heart is in need of self control for it is the wellbeing of life.

Mind and Thoughts: Mind is considered the gate for the enemy. With our present situations, our mind are filled with lusts, greed and desires. So we must have to control on our mind and thoughts so that the enemy will not enter and cause us great harm.

Eyes: There were so many visual impulses in our country today. If we take one look, we are hooked. It is important to make a covenant with our eyes and keep wicked things out of sight.

Tongue: It has a direct connection to our hearts. Our responsiblity to take control on it is big for the tongue will have a lot of abuses to mention.

There are many more areas where we need self control. We should make it a habit in any of our doings for there is a proverb that reads "Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control." Without self-control our lives will be defeated, destroyed and overrun by the enemy".

Power of Self

Everyone, no matter who they are, or what race, or culture, or sex, has the fewer within themselves to change themselves for the better. If they truly choose to. There are a lot of things in life over which a person has no control. There are also a lot of things in life over which a person does have control, starting with SELF, and the responsibility one has to one's SELF.

If you are a Student: then study that much harder, read that much more, learn that much more. Make yourself more than just a student.

If you are a worker: work a little harder, learn all you can about all aspects of where you work. Go back to school, or study at home if need be, but do whatever it takes to get the job done!

If you are a parent: then be a parent. Teach your child, or children, educate them at home before you send them off to school. If your child has talent, encourage your child, bring out that talent to its fullest. Tell your children you love them, let them feel your love. Children don't ask to be born, and if a child could teach itself what it needs to know, then why would it need parents?

Take control of your responsibilities. Take control of yourself, and by doing so you will take control of your life, your future, your destiny. Some people think that this is easier said than done, but it's not, because all things, positive or negative, start from within. It's how you deal with them that makes them what they end up.

No matter who you are or what you do, you have the ability within yourself to make things better for yourself if you truly want to. The best way to go about this is to first accept YOURSELF for who you are. You must love and respect, as well as appreciate, you, even if the rest of the world doesn't. Take pride in all you learn, take pride in who you are and where you come from. The more you learn, the more pride you will have, and the more you will want to carry on the tradition that your culture started. Once you find out who you are, nothing and no one will be able to keep you down. Once you have the knowledge of SELF you will no longer be satisfied with the way things have been, especially if they have been bad.

If knowledge is power, then there can be no stronger power than the knowledge of SELF. But only you can find yourself, only you can prepare and better yourself. Because it all starts with you.
